Analyn Waje claimed it’s never safe to trust one’s life with an illegal recruiter. She claimed it was the saddest experience she had that she even thought of ending her life because of getting so depressed.
“Gusto ko magpakamatay sa sobrang lungkot. Gusto kong magpakamatay. Hindi ko matanggap, binenta ako ng kapwa kong Pinoy,” Waje sobbed.
Waje was among the 150 OFWs who availed of the repatriation program offered by President Rodrigo Duterte to OFWs who had been maltreated and abused by employers in Kuwait. Her bitter experience triggered her repatriation.
On February 13, Tuesday, OFWs who mostly experienced abused had returned to the Philippines. They were welcomed by the Duterteat the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
In his previous speech, the President had expressed the government’s intention of giving land to those who are interested in agriculture aside from the livelihood programs being offered by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to returning OFWs.
He also assured them of enough resources to cater to their needs when they go home and convinced them not to return to Kuwait considering their welfare and protection.
Meanwhile, Harry Roque, Jr., the Presidential Spokesperson announced that displaced OFWs could consider acquiring their jobs as there will be various job positions which will be made available under the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program.
