Police officers in Kota Kinabalu have released the identity of the 5 Filipino inmates who managed to escape from their temporary detention centre in Menggatal on New Year’s Day.
The five inmates were identified as Mus Mansul, 62; AljiSadain, 23; AzmiAlim, 29; TotongAlipudin 35 and Amir Sulaiman, 23.
These 5 Filipinos were charged of illegal entry to Sabah.
The public is urged to provide their whereabouts in case they saw these three prisoners, as the statewide hunt goes on for the fourth day.
Currently, the breakout is under investigation as per Section 224 of the Penal Code.
When caught, they could imprisoned for two years, or a fine or can be both.
“Initial investigations showed that seven Filipinos forced their way out by rushing to a guard who had opened the door of their block to collect their dinner utensils,” says ACP Chandra.
According to him, two of the inmates, ages 19 and 22, were immediately caught by their guards as they tried to escape their cell at the detention centre for illegal immigrants.
Chandra also said that any information about them will be helpful. They can call the nearest police station in Kota Kinabalu.
