Migrant workers leave their families to work in another country with high hopes of providing a better life ahead of their loved-ones in the future. Though there is uncertainty whether they will be able to fulfil their dreams, one thing holds clear…that they are all willing to sacrifice no matter what it takes to be able to provide for their family’s needs.
Aside from working long hours just to be able to earn more, save more and send more to their families, a migrant worker also battles loneliness while being away. Luckily, there are means of communication so they can communicate with their families and loved-ones which gives them the strength to carry on during hard times.
On the other hand, though reaching their families through making a call may seem easy as 1-2-3, the truth is, placing a call may be costly and expensive that other migrant workers would opt to just save their money instead of spending it on long-distance calls. But for this one worker, he found a clever way to cure his homesickness.
According to World of Buzz, there was this worker from GeYuanzheng, China who transferred to Shanghai to work. At one time, he discovered a subway station that offers a good wi-fi connection. After work, instead of going home and take a rest from a long, tiring day, he would take a walk going to the station and connect with the free wi-fi just to be able to communicate with his wife.
Apparently, the worker claimed that he doesn’t want to spend his hard-earned money in making a call but he really missed his family. To state, he was only earning 200-300 yuan ($31-$46), was staying with his co-workers in a dormitory and was only spending money on his basic necessities. Thus, connecting to a free wi-fi connection would definitely solve his problem. Thanks to our modern technology!
At first, his wife felt pity upon learning that her husband had to sacrifice that much to be able to call her. Soon, she was relieved by the fact that her husband was in good condition.
As of this writing, the worker had been doing this for quite some time. Someone had taken a photo of him and shared it on social media that many had learned of his story.
Two thumbs up for this family man! Family really matters!
