It’s still effective! The previous ban on the deployment of OFWs in 21 countries is still effective this 2018.
According to POEA, the deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers in countries like Afghanistan is still effective because of security reasons.
Same ban goes to countries like Sudan, Somalia, Great Lakes Region, like Rwanda and Burundi.
Last 2016, it can be recalled that POEA implemented the ban in the deployment of OFWs in South Sudan while the government also stopped the deployment of OFWs going to Iraq after the was raised to Alert Level 4.
OFWs are also prohibited in travelling to countries like Syria, Libya, Yemen and Chechnya because of the rising tension.
No household workers are also allowed to travel and work in countries like Palau and Ukraine.
Other countries included in the ban are North Korea, Mauritania, Chad, Republic of Niger, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Haiti, Palestine and Mali.
